How do you have a jazz band with no trumpet section? Have your sax section double on flute of course! Combine that with Laufey, an up and coming Gen Z artist who's making jazz cool to middle schoolers and you've got yourself a chart.
What do you do with a classically trained violinist, too many drummers, and the sax section you taught to double last year? There's only one plausible answer... Jazz Fusion...
How many jazz bands can say that everyone in the group improvised? How do you support your lil' anxious beans who don't want to take a solo on their own? Make them all jam at once of course.
This one's really cool y'all... Bird sounds, woodwind soli, and catchy tunes made by one of Jazz's top weirdos. What else can you ask for?
It's a Mingus tune. Everyone's gonna improvise at some point, that's how that works. Ft: a bass player who discovered his inner monstrosity, a very young brass section, and the weirdness of middle school instrumentation.
Mr. Trombonology by NC Davis | Recording (45:56)
Blessed with a killin' 8th grade trombone section and inspired by Douglas Yeo's illuminating articles on the troublesome history of the trombone rag, Lassus Trombone, I re-orchestrated and adapted this work by NC Davis to keep the same spirit while representing the culture and history of Ragtime more authentically. My arrangement took the original (and public domain) parts, and supplemented them with some ~grade 1 alternative parts for younger players.

Personal Performances...
Since 2024, I've had the joy of combining two of my favorite things in life... Swingin' with a big band, and video games! FBBB combines the two by performing music from video games in the style of Count Basie and the like.
This is a recording from our debut concert in Lancaster featuring music from Nintendo games, Final Fantasy, and more.
